  • Dowsett scores from nothing
  • Leroux makes emotional farewell

Report

Another midweek fixture, this time against our new-old foes Hizza Utd. Having played them 3 times already this season and failed to get anything from any of the games, Chaps were determined to make amends and end their rivalry on a high.

Fronk made some tactical changes this week, opting for a 3–2–4–1 formation with Watkins slotting in as a surprise center half, flanked by King and Cull. Midfield saw Tindall, Feasey, Hobbis and Adams given freedom while Mosedale and Leroux—making his 10th and final appearance for the Chaps—providing the necessary cover just in front of the back 3. Dowsett was a lone target man up front, and the bench today was eventually filled with 3 injured members in the form of Penny, Dutton and Tarplee.

Chaps were disciplined throughout the match, and got the goal their determination and organisation deserved when Dowsett latched onto a long ball into the right hand corner, waltzed, fox-trotted and tangoed his way along the byline and selectively salsa'd the ball into the back of the Hizza net, beating a good few players and the keeper alike. He's got quite a few moves on him that Chap!

Chaps held on to their lead going into the half time break, with Leroux famously blocking a point blank shot on the line whilst stationed dutifully on the far post defending a corner.

Unfortunately, during the second half Hizza had the luxury of being able to throw on 3 fit substitutes raring to go, and this was to be the luck they needed to equalize against opponents with superior organisation, attitude, team spirit and work ethic. Chaps were tiring and could only bring on the injured Penny for a 20 minute cameo, replacing the workhorse effort of Leroux. Mosedale and Leroux thrived all game long in their new partnership holding the midfield together, a piece of tactical genius by manager Fronk.

Who knew Watkins was a center half?! Chap of the match goes straight to him for a stellar performance bossing the back line. Sue Perb. I really felt the energy and true meaning of being a Chap return during this match, everyone gave their all and worked for each other out on the pitch. We are back on the up and I an't wait for the next fixture! UTC! CTID! COTC!
